36 Weeks Pregnant - Signs of Pregnancy
Mother
At 36 weeks pregnant you may experience a phenomenon known as lightening when your baby drops down lower in preparation for birth. Although this eases the pressure on your lungs, making breathing easier for you, it also means walking may be more uncomfortable.
From now onwards you may go into labour at any time and you should be prepared for this. Make sure you have a hospital bag packed and arrangements made for your transport to hospital if you are having a hospital birth. Don't forget to pack your birth plan!
Baby
Your baby will probably move into his birth position around this time. Most babies position themselves head down in preparation for birth although some may be feet or bottom down which is known as breech. Your GP will discuss your birth options with you if this is the case. He is now gaining around 1oz a day and continues to plumpen. His kidneys are fully developed and his liver is functioning.
