Pregnancy Day by Day: Day 1

Many changes and new developments happen to both mother-to-be and the developing baby on a day by day basis during pregnancy.

Day 1 of your pregnancy is rather peculiarly named since you aren't even actually pregnant yet! Rather, since pregnancy is dated from the first day of your last period, day 1 actually refers to the date your doctor will ask you for when he or she is working out how how many weeks pregnant you are and your due date.

So, day 1 of pregnancy is simply the first day of menstruation! As you uterus expels the lining of the womb that was not required in the previous month, a whole new cycle of preparing for pregnancy begins.
