Pregnancy Day by Day: Day 13
By day 13 of your pregnancy (although bear in mind you aren't actually pregnant yet!), you should be thinking about who will take care of your medical needs throughout your pregnancy.
Ask around friends and family if you are happy for them to know that you are trying for a baby. In the UK most women see their normal gp throughout their pregnancies with frequent hospital visits for specialist monitoring and ultrasound scans. However, in other parts of the world this is not the case and many women choose a specialist doctor who will oversee their pregnancy.
When thinking about who will care for you and your baby think about whether you would prefer a male or female care-giver and try to find out their statistics for vaginal and c-section births. Ask about the type of pain relief they offer and the aftercare that is provided. Whilst this may all seem very far-fetched at the moment you will be glad you did some research when the time comes to see a doctor!
