Pregnancy Day by Day: Day 2
By Day 2 of your pregnancy, you will be on the second day of your period. You may be thinking about making some lifestyle changes and this is a good time to start. If you smoke, you should cut down as soon as possible with the aim of quitting altogether by the time you are actually pregnant. Research has shown that smoking during pregnancy can cause babies to be born prematurely, have a lower than average birth rate and it also increases the risks associated with stillbirth, miscarriage and cot-death. It also increases the risk of your child suffering from respiratory problems, not to mention the other well-documented risks to smokers in general.
If you find it difficult to stop smoking, your doctor can recommend a smoking cessation programme. Alternatively, many women find hypnosis sessions a very succesful way to stop the habit and one in partyicular that was recommended to us personally is Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking.
