Pregnancy Day by Day: Day 4

Day 4 of pregnancy is a good time to start looking at any potentially detrimental home, work and environmental factors. This may simply mean it is time to reduce your use of certain home or garden chemicals and cleaners and to avoid being in confined spaces with certain chemicals in the workplace. For example, at home you could think about changing over to organic household and garden products where possible and avoid breathing in other peoples' cigarette smoke as passive smoking can be just as harmful as direct smoking.

Have a chat to your employer or human resources department if you are happy to let them know you are thinking about getting pregnant, otherwise simply avoid risk factors as much as possible. Once you are actually officially pregnant, by law your employer must ensure that the workplace is safe for you andyour developing baby and if not they must find alternative work for you throughout your pregnancy.
