Pregnancy Day by Day: Day 6

Day 6 of pregnancy (day 6 of menstruation) means it's time to start taking prenatal vitamin and mineral supplements if you aren't already! Ideally, you should be taking folic acid supplements for at least three months prior to getting pregnant.

Unfoirtunately, many women don't always plan their pregnancies so far in advance or get pregnant accidentally so if this is the month that you are determined to try for a baby or you are likely to have unprotected sex then it is very important that you take supplements as a safeguard against potential pregnancy problems.

It is well documented that taking extra folic acid can help to prevent neural tube defects such as spina bifida and extra vitamins and minerals will prevent the mother to be becoming run down as well as helping the bay to develop normally.
