Pregnancy Day by Day: Day 7

Day 7 of pregnancy (day 7 of menstruation) is usually the point at which menstruation ceases if it hasn't already. If you are intending on getting pregnant you should start to have unprotected sex from now onwards, assuming of course that neither you nor your partner have any sexually transmittable diseases (if you do you should not even consider trying for a baby until you have spoken to your doctor first about the risks associated with unprotected sex).

You should also cut down or at least drastically reduce your intake of alcohol and you should not be taking any illegal or recreational drugs. (As mentioned in Pregnancy Day by Day: Day 3, you should also chat to your gp about the safety of prescribed, over the counter and herbal medications).

Alcohol and drugs can cause serious problems to the developing baby, so it is important that both you and your partner should work together to ensure your baby has the best chances of perfect health.
